Where? The layby on Castle Hill side at the top of Lumb Lane (SE 151 139)
Who? Sheila and Harold Dyson of the West Yorkshire RIGS Group
How? A gentle walk of about 2 miles following footpaths and tracks around Castle Hill looking at the landscapes of the Huddersfield area and how they have been formed. The recently published Castle Hill Geology Trail leaflet will be available at £1.50. Is the event suitable for all? The paths include stiles and some steep slopes. Children are welcome, if accompanied by responsible adults.

Nearest car parking - the layby on the side of Castle Hill. There is no charge.
Nearest public transport - Train to Berry Brow station, with a steep walk up to Castle Hill. Huddersfield to Stocksmoor bus 341 Huddersfield to South Crosland bus 354 to top of High Lane with a short walk along Ashes Lane.
Nearest public conveniences - none
Things to take to the event - Walking boots, good trainers or wellies for the muddy footpaths and steep slopes.
