What? Horbury Quarry and Addingford Cutting

When? Sunday 28th May from 2.00 to 4.00 pm

Where? Meet at St Peter's Church (SE 291 183) in the centre of Horbury

Who? Organised by the West Yorkshire RIGS Group and led by Richard Bell. Richard is the author of 'Yorkshire Rock, a journey through time' published by BGS in 1996 and is secretary of the West Yorkshire RIGS group. Contact Richard by email at richard@willowisland.co.uk

How? a 90 minute walk to see the Horbury Rock, which is a sandstone of Coal Measure age, with joints, cross-bedding and other features. Building stones and evidence of coal mining will also be seen.

Is the event suitable for all? Everyone is welcome, including children accompanied by responsible adults.

Who is it not suitable for? There are steps so it is not wheelchair accessible

Nearest car parking. Free car parks in Horbury on Northgate, Tithe Barn Street and behind the Co-op on High Street.

Nearest public transport - 216 and 217 Wakefield to Dewsbury buses pass through Horbury. Also 119, 120, 126, 127, 128, 231,232, 265, X7, X16 and X17, but check Sunday timetable in May.

Nearest public conveniences - There are no public toilets
