1st May until 4th June, Wednesday to Sunday, plus Bank Holidays, 11am to 5pm .Dinosaur Pioneers - Modern palaeontologists owe a great deal to the pioneers of dinosaur study. The "Dinosaur Pioneers" exhibition celebrates the contribution of those scientists who investigated the ancient creatures in the early 19th Century. New displays and interactive exhibits illustrate the lives of the pioneers and their impact on science and society. At Dinostar in Hull.

Thursday 4th May at 6.30 - 8.30 pm - "Building Stones of the town centre of Huddersfield". Meet Alison Quarterman in Market Place, Huddersfield at 6.30 pm on Thursday 4th May for a 2 hour stroll around the town centre to look at polished rocks on shop and bank fronts. Parking in town centre car parks and toilets at bus and train stations.
Saturday 6th May - "A Walk on the Woldside" led by Derek Gobbett of the Hull Geological Society. 2 pm - 5 p.m. walking about 6 km; meet at Thixendale.
Saturday 6th May from 2.00 - 4.00 - Folly Dolly Falls, Meltham, to see a waterfall where sandstones are faulted against shales. Meet Alison Quarterman at Morrison's car park, Meltham, for a short walk along a disused railway line. Access is steep, wet and muddy, and Wellington boots are essential to see the waterfall. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by adults.

Wednesday 17th May - 'A Walk Back in Time'. Meet Bill Fraser at the Lakeside cafι car park in Roundhay Park, Leeds, on at 6.30 p.m. The car park is free and several bus routes serve the park perimeter from the City Centre. This is a short walk, which is not wheelchair accessible, to see a variety of rock types and tectonic features.

Thursday 18th May - (evening lecture) -"The GeoValue Project: Valuing geodiversity for the community" by Peter W. Scott Camborne School of Mines, University of Exeter, Cornwall Campus and David Roche GeoConsulting, Exeter. Joint meeting of East Yorkshire RIGS Group and Hull Geological Society at the Geography Department, University of Hull starting at 7-30pm (doors close at 7-30pm - no admission if you are late, sorry).

Monday 22nd May, starting at 7.15 - "A talk on Rocks and Landscapes of the Huddersfield area". An illustrated talk on Rocks and Landscapes of the Huddersfield area on Monday May 22nd starting at 7.15 - 8.30 at Greenhead College, Huddersfield, Room F9. Cost is £2.00 to cover the talk and refreshments afterwards. The talk will be given by Alison Quarterman, chairman of the Huddersfield Geology Group 01484 608004
Friday 26th May - Coal pits and Stone Quarries at Ringinglow a geological walk between Ringinglow and Brown Edge, led by Peter Kennett, on behalf of the Friends of the Porter Valley, starts at 6pm.
Saturday 27th May - Roadshow at the Hull and East Riding Museum. Supported by the Hull Geological Society, East Yorkshire RIGS Group, Dinostar and Hull Museums archeological service. 11 am to 3pm, free admission.
Sunday 28th May 2006 - "Dinosaur feet and dinosaur food", led by Nigel Whittingon and Stuart Jones. Morning walk lasting 4 hours, near Scarborough.
Sunday 28th May from 2.00 to 4.00 pm - "Horbury Quarry and Addingford Cutting". Meet Richard Bell at St Peter's Church (SE 291183), Horbury on Sunday 28th May at 2.00. There are many free car parks and many bus services pass through Horbury. This is a short walk, which is not wheelchair accessible, to see a sandstone quarry and local building stones.
