Forensic Geology Course
new for 2006.
Course aims -

Geological materials found on a suspect's property can be compared with those at a crime scene. Sometimes we can get a positive result because the material is site specific; but more often 'negative results' will be important.
Content -
some basic petrology and stratigraphy
methods of characterising some geological materials
methods of dating some geological materials
Method -
two or three lectures in the first year.
practical sessions in the second and third years - working with samples of clay and sand.
